This interview was recorded on the 12th of July 2014 at the Saho Cultural Association which is based in the south London distric of Stockwell. Ali Abdullah Ahmad is an Eritrean musician from the Saho ethnic group. Along with other minority groups, Saho people are part of a wider diaspora community of Eritreans in London. This interview focused mainly on the role that music plays in Ali's diasporic experience, especially in relation to identity issues. The first part of the interview includes some general information about Saho people and their music. The second part is more focused on Ali's interest in enhancing Saho cultural values and traditions through music. Ali also shares some thoughts about the role of politics in the development of Eritrean music and the role of Eritrean artists in diaspora.
